David Sánchez’s CARIB is a contemporary Pan-African ensemble deeply rooted in Afro-Puerto Rican rhythms. Through extensive research and composition, the project bridges the music and cultures of Africa with their enduring influence in the Americas. It serves as a living archive, preserving and celebrating these rich traditions. In this performance, Sánchez revisits themes from his career, culminating in his most recent work, offering an immersive journey through the ongoing evolution of CARIB.
The ensemble features David Sánchez on tenor saxophone and percussion, Luis Perdomo on piano, Ricky Rodriguez on bass, Lil John Roberts on drums, and Frankie Quiñones on percussion.
