The Kansas City Kansas Community College Blue Devil Funk Band is one of the premier ensembles in KCKCC's award-winning music department. The ensemble performs a wide range of funk, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, and original literature, and consists of 3-5 singers, 3-5 horns, and rhythm section. One of the ensemble's drummers, Ben Garber, received a 2021 DownBeat Student Music Award in the Blues/Pop/R&B Soloist category.

Dr. Justin Binek is an internationally renowned singer, pianist, educator, clinician, adjudicator, and composer/arranger. His compositions and arrangments are available through Anchor Music Publications and Kerry Marsh Music, and he is a frequent presenter and performer at Jazz Education Network conferences. In addition to his work as an Assistant Professor of Music Theory and Jazz Studies at KCKCC, Justin also serves on the teaching faculties of The Jazz Harmony Retreat and the Halewynstichting Jazz Workshop (Belgium).
