Dr. Stephen Guerra, Jr. is the Director of the Studio Jazz Writing Program and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Studio Music and Jazz where he teaches courses in Jazz Arranging, Composition, Orchestration, and Music Technology. Dr. Guerra formerly served as the director of the award-winning Frost Studio Jazz Band and the Managing Director of the Henry Mancini Institute. In high demand as a composer and arranger, Dr. Guerra has composed and arranged for Clark Terry, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dave Koz, Ben Folds, Jon Batiste, and Terence Blanchard, among others. Dr. Guerra served as the Musical Director of the Clark Terry Big Bad Band and has performed alongside many jazz greats, including Phil Woods, Al Grey, Snooky Young, Marshall Royal, and Louis Bellson. His recent composition, Cascade, was premiered by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
